Atoma diamond sharpening plates are made in Japan by diamond abrasive specialists Tsuboman, they are hugely popular for knife sharpening, but are also an excellent choice for sharpening woodworking tools. They are fast cutting, slow wearing, and extremely flat.
The high quality monocrystalline diamonds on Atoma diamond plates are evenly distributed in neat densely packed clusters; this keeps them cutting freely and produces a very uniform scratch pattern which takes less time to polish through with the next grade.
Atoma diamond plates are ideal for freehand sharpening and their durability makes them a great choice for situations where you need to take the tools to the work. Used with light pressure and plenty of fluid, diamond stones are clean, don't get dished, and will sharpen anything hard, including carbide, avoid using them on soft materials like brass or aluminium as these will gum up the surface.
