Flat Head Screwdrivers

The flat or 'common' blade is the oldest screwdriver tip of all, made for slotted screws that pre-date every other head type by a considerable margin. Slot heads remain popular with furniture makers and restorers, both because they are historically correct for older pieces and because their plain, symmetrical form is well suited to fine, hand-finished work.

Our flat head range is made up entirely of Narex screwdrivers. Each has a flared, tapered tip for maximum strength, finished in a black high friction coating that also serves as a substrate for the chrome plating on the rest of the tool. Handles are beech, stained black and triangular in section for a comfortable grip and efficient transfer of torque, with a tang that passes right through so the driver can be lightly struck with a mallet if extra persuasion is needed.
