Hand Braces

Hand braces are usually associated with traditional tapered square head auger bits but they also work very well with modern quick-change hex shanks (round shanked drills have a tendency to slip). The three jaw hand brace will fit the majority of bits, there is a square recess behind the chuck which engages the square tip of traditional auger bits while the jaws reach around to grab the shank.

For very short necked bits (chair-makers spoon bits for example) there is the option of a four jaw hand brace, or you can just buy the brace jaw assembly and swap them over.
