Mopane

Mopane (Colophospermum mopane), also referred to as Mopani,  from South Africa has a very high density, making it perfect for turning, though will, of course, blunt cutters faster than other woods.

The heartwood is premoninantly dark to medium rich red brown with black stripes, that has a uniform texture and a pleasing natural lustre shine.
