The universal tool for drilling small screw and nail-holes as well for all fine marking jobs, the sharp edged pyramidal tip is twisted into the wood to create a hole then open it out to size. Traditionally used to make holes for the wires or canes when making birdcages - hence the name.
Needle from 8mm 0-1 tool steel with 10° pyramid-shape tip, hardened to approx. 58 HRC.
