Regular shaped slabs of round top yellow coticule whetstone that are bonded to a non-sharpening supporting layer of shale, great for sharpening curved blades, rounded chisels, curved gouges etc.
This is a selected coticule, cut from clear creamy coloured veins that have minimal cosmetic inclusions.
What grit is coticule? In terms of where it fits into your sharpening regime, the answer is 4000 - 10,000 depending on how you use it - a thick slurry and moderate pressure gives a fast cut, just water and light pressure gives the finest finish.
