Spray Bottle

Maintaining the consistency of the slip on the surface of a Japanese waterstone is the critical if you want the best results (aim for a thin layer with about the same consistency as single cream). An occasional spritz with a spray bottle will replace moisture lost to evaporation and keep the stone cutting freely.
