An accurate square one of the first tools you should own, your square is used so frequently that most woodworkers carry it in their apron pocket or just leave it on the bench.
It is also not something to economise on, a cheap 'nearly square' will cause you nothing but problems, whereas investing in a good quality Starrett, Moore & Wright or Kinex square will help you to start off right, catch problems before they happen, and ultimately achieve accurate results.
