1/4" to 1/2" by sixteenths, then up to 1-1/4" by eighths, plus a 1-1/2", all in superb and very little used condition. William Ridgway & Sons was founded in 1878 and became one of Sheffields most successful and longstanding manufacturers of augers, bits, woodboring and morticing tools.
Jennings pattern or 'extension-lip spur auger bits' have rounded spurs that score the perimiter of the hole ahead of the next cutting lip, which then planes off the separated waste and sends it up the flutes and out. In mild good quality timber they are capable of producing a very clean hole, hence their popularity with furniture makers and restorers.
Supplied in a new, British made 18 pocket auger roll with a new double ended auger bit file.
