Made to a traditional British design, this beautiful Mujingfang rebate (rabbet) plane is handmade in Hong Kong from a single piece of fine grained ebony. The cutting iron is forged carbon steel, hardened and tempered to RC58, and held with an individually fitted and numbered wooden wedge.
The rebate profile makes it well suited to cutting rebates along the edge of a board, cleaning up machine-cut rebates by hand, and trimming to a scribed line where a bench plane's closed sides would get in the way.
