A nicely married up set of lightly used early Jennings pattern auger bits from various Sheffield, Birmingham and Connecticut makers including Watrous & Co (whose name appears on patents alongside Ezra L'Hommidieu as far back as 1809, although these particular bits are almost certainly after 1870).

Jennings pattern or 'extension-lip spur auger bits' have rounded spurs that score the perimiter of the hole ahead of the next cutting lip, which then planes off the separated waste and sends it up the flutes and out. In mild good quality timber they are capable of producing a very clean hole, hence their popularity with furniture makers and restorers.

Thirteen bits in total, 1/4' to 1" by sixteenths, supplied in a new, British made 18 pocket auger roll with a new double ended auger bit file.

These auger bits are pre-owned and not covered by our Lifetime Warranty - please see Terms and Conditions.
