Corrosion Control

Corrosion control is one of those workshop habits that separates tools that last decades from tools that don't last years.

Cast iron, high-carbon steel and bare metal surfaces are all vulnerable - a damp workshop, a sweaty hand or even humid air is enough to start the process. Getting on top of it pays dividends well beyond the tools themselves:

• Rust inhibitors and treatments to address existing surface rust on planes, chisels and machine beds
• Protective oils and waxes to seal bare metal against moisture and handling
• Corroded edges and surfaces affect cutting performance before visible damage is obvious
• Well-maintained tools hold their value and can be passed on or resold in good condition
• Protecting machine beds and fences means smoother, more accurate work at the bench and the saw
• Regular treatment makes future cleaning and maintenance significantly easier
