FAMAG 1639 Extension shanks

FAMAG 1639 Extension Shank enables you to bore deeper than your Forstner bit's shank normally allows. This extension bolts onto any 10mm shaft FAMAG drill bit, including Bormax Forstners from 22mm upwards, giving you the extra reach needed for jobs your standard setup can't manage on its own.

Typical uses include:

• Deep boring with large Bormax Forstners, where the bit's own shank falls short of the hole depth required
• Lathe work and turnery, extending reach into a workpiece held in the tail-stock
• Stacking two extensions together via the 10mm top shank, for jobs needing even greater depth

Four hex socket screws (set at 120°) lock the bit securely in place; a 2.5mm Allen key is needed but not supplied.

Best suited to face grain and general boring. End grain in hardwood puts more strain on the drill chuck, so treat this as a job for slower speeds rather than a like-for-like substitute for a full-length bit.

Available in four configurations covering 8mm and 10mm inner diameters, in both 125mm and 250mm lengths, so you can match the extension to your bit and the depth of the job.
