The Iwasaki Cranked Flat Bastard file reaches into grooves, housings and rebates that a straight file's handle would otherwise block. The offset neck lifts your hand clear of the work, letting the teeth travel right into stopped cuts and flat to the bottom of the channel. With a little tweaking on the grinder it could also be pressed into service on sliding dovetails. The teeth cut on the push stroke and go right to the tip - ideal for stopped grooves.
Like all Iwasaki files, the teeth are chemically polished rather than simply cut, producing miniature shavings instead of dust and leaving a smooth surface with very little sanding needed. The bastard cut is the coarsest in the Iwasaki range, suited to fast stock removal where a fine finish isn't the priority.
