Dozuki
When precision is the priority, the Dozuki delivers. This Japanese back saw features a rigid reinforcing spine along the top of the blade, keeping it perfectly stable throughout the cut - essential for accurate joinery where thousandths of an inch matter.
Dozuki saws are built for fine work: dovetails, tenons, box joints and any cut where a clean, straight kerf is non-negotiable. The ultra-fine teeth leave a near-finished surface straight from the blade, often requiring little or no paring afterwards.
Cutting on the pull stroke keeps the blade under tension, preventing flex and deflection. Combined with the thin kerf, this makes the Dozuki noticeably easier to control than equivalent Western back saws.
The spine does limit depth of cut, so the Dozuki is best reserved for joinery and detail work rather than breaking down larger stock.
