Beautifully forged and hand ground in Saint-Etienne, Ledin wing compasses and dividers are properly constructed with a heavy duty sprung and riveted box hinge, as you can imagine this arrangement is substantially stiffer than a simple overlap.
In general wing compasses and dividers are favoured for robustness while the bowspring type are considered more precise and adjustable.
Ledin compasses, dividers and calipers may cost a little more than cheap mass produced ones but their rigidity, accuracy and reliability put them in an altogether different league.
The maximum spread (capacity) is equal to the total length of the arms for an opening of 60° in this case 190mm.
