With its blade shaped like a yariganna (spear plane), one of the oldest woodworking tools, it cuts on the breast of the curved edge and produces a tubular shaving like a spill plane.
It does take a little while to make friends with this one, but once you have, clean shimmering surfaces with subtle textures will be your reward.
