Butt chisels are perfectly proportioned for controlled chopping work. Pinching the neck with the heel of your hand resting on the workpiece for stability, then using gentle taps from a mallet to nibble up to your gauge line. The short length makes it easier to simultaneously focus on what you are cutting and where you are hitting, it also makes them less fatiguing to hold for long periods.
As with the Narex Richter bench chisels the cryogenically hardened steel is absolutely superb, taking a keen edge and holding it for an inordinate length of time. The backs are plenty flat enough and already polished, so we recommend just honing the bevel and stropping away the wire edge.
Set includes: ¼" (6mm), ½" (13mm), ¾" (19mm), and 1" (25mm) supplied in a wooden presentation box.
