The Pinie® double mitre box is constructed of 19mm solid beech wood for the sides, with a base of premium 18mm birch ply, being double sided it is suitable for use with either Western or Japanese saws.
With slots for 90° and two opposing 45° angles, the mitre box is designed to keep your saw in the right parish to cut your mitres slightly strong before planing them back to perfection on a shooting board or mitre jack. For more rough and ready 'paint grade' applications mitres can often be installed straight from the saw.
If you have a repeat angle or compound mitre to cut there is nothing wrong with setting out and cutting the first one through both the component and your mitre box - masking tape is excellent for setting out. Then you can use the kerf in the to get subsequent components identical. Just watch out for the screws!
