The Quangsheng large router plane is a very satisfying tool to use for accurately levelling a lower surface with reference to an adjacent higher one, tenon cheeks, groove bottoms, hinge recesses etc.
The depth of cut is adjusted for each set of passes over the surface, so Quangsheng have added a bearing to the adjuster making it silky smooth, with practice you can just barely nip the retaining screw through the post and find the sweet spot where the blade won't shift but you'll be able to adjust on the fly without needing to slacken and re-tension the retaining screw each time.
Alternatively you can use the retaining screw without the adjuster and drop the foot of the blade onto the edge of the just cut surface to get an incremental increase in the depth of cut.
The post is double sided, so you can have the cutter on the outside for hard to reach spots or better visibility; when working into a corner with the optional V-blade for example. Ten threaded holes provide locations for the adjustable fence should you need to work a fixed distance from an edge. The same holes can also be used with an M5 screw to affix shop-made sub-bases. The fence itself also has two M5 tapped holes so you can make fences for specific tasks.
The plane is nicely finished with smooth cherry handles to match the rest of the Quangsheng range with brass and stainless steel fittings.
