Quangsheng No. 5½ Bedrock Pattern Jack Plane
Always a popular choice with students and beginners, the 5-1/2 is comfortable, well balanced and if set up carefully makes an excellent workhorse for the vast majority of furniture making tasks. It takes a broad, shallow shaving, so if you work with reasonably straight or pre-machined material it will deal with small corrections on wide surfaces very efficiently.

Quangsheng No. 3 Bedrock Pattern Smoothing Plane
The No.3 weighs almost the same as a No.4 but it's more compact proportions give the impression of a more solid mass in the hands. When honed with a touch of camber and set for a gossamer shaving, the No.3 almost floats over the surface being planed.
Smoothing planes are designed to take very fine shavings as their short sole allows them to make continuous contact with the timber and leave a clean, consistent surface ready for finish.

Quangsheng Low Angle Block Plane
Block planes are used for chamfering waste to eliminate breakout, tidying up the ends of boards after cutting to length, and fixing any slight inaccuracies from the earlier stages of production. The short sole makes them ideal for tidying up little patches of tearout and their relatively light weight means that after a while you almost use them without thinking. It has a bronze cap with brass fittings and comes with a 25° iron as standard with a 12° bedding angle.
