Unlike bypass shears which should only be used on living stems, anvil shears function like a knife on a chopping board and are suitable for heavier cuts through green or dry wood. Developed over five years in conjunction with industry experts Gyokucho Rakunandesu anvil shears can handle stems up to 15mm thick.
Because of the heavier work it is important to minimise strain on the user, so Gyokucho have designed these with a double fulcrum that multiplies your squeezing effort through leverage and lets you get thicker material right to the back of the jaw for maximum mechanical advantage (JP Patent No. 5547700). They have incorporated a selector switch that lets you choose between opening halfway and all the way, and there's a 3 position adjuster for spring tension.
Made from strong but lightweight cast aluminium, again to minimise fatigue, with a high quality overmoulded TPE grip and a lanyard attachment loop for using them safely at height.
Both the SK-5 Carbon Steel blade and the anvil are replaceable, the blade is impulse hardened (same process as gyokucho saw teeth).
