The Sakazume Precision Sanding System is a light, compact hand sanding method from Japan built around interchangeable abrasive sheets. Each sheet attaches by hook and loop to a sanding block or the sanding file, and lifts off cleanly when it's time to move to a different grit or fit a fresh sheet.

Because the paper is held flat against a rigid base, hand sanding with the system follows the grain direction rather than cutting across it, giving a visibly cleaner surface than the same grit used freehand. The stearated, non-loading sheets cut quickly and are long-lasting.

The system is best suited to the final clean up of components: removing pencil marks, fingerprints and machining marks prior to assembly or the application of finish, and taking crisp edges without the rounding over that a random orbit sander or careless freehand sanding can cause. It suits cabinetmaking, instrument making, model making and any fine work where a controlled, even finish matters more than speed of stock removal.

Sheets can be cut down with scissors to fit whichever block or file they are being used with, so one pack of paper serves the whole system.

The sanding block pairs a lightweight aluminium base plate with a resin coated wood handle, keeping fingers well clear of the work while giving even, consistent pressure across the sheet. It is available in two sizes to suit different jobs, from tight, targeted areas to broader flat surfaces.

Size Width Length Height
Small 30mm 100mm 40mm
Large 60mm 100mm 40mm

Both sizes come complete with three sheets of paper (80, 120 and 240 grit) ready to fit. The small block suits detail work and confined areas, while the large block covers wider surfaces more efficiently in fewer strokes.
