Forge laminated steel with a very hard layer (hagane) to take and hold an edge and a tough lower carbon supportive layer (jigane) for strength. The blades are slightly hollow ground to minimise friction* and therefore fatigue. Long thin handles employ the strength of Japanese white oak to add lightness and leverage, they are sturdily attached with hooped and rivetted tangs.
Intended for cutting leaves in the refined trimming of sculpted hedges and shrubs, for situations where 'that buddleia needs cutting back darling' use the carbon steel ones or the loppers.
*NB: as with all scissors you only ever sharpen the bevelled surface.
