The 8116 range is where Narex chisels earn their reputation for value, precise grinding, close tolerance backs and fine edges achieved without adding to the price the way many "premium" brands do. Blades are forged from Chrome Manganese (CrMn) spring steel, isothermally hardened to a consistent bainitic structure at RC59 +/-1. The result behaves much like carbon steel at the cutting edge, while being a steel Narex can produce more efficiently, part of how they keep the price down without cutting corners on the grind.

Each chisel carries a shouldered teardrop hornbeam handle, tough enough to take mallet blows without marring or becoming unpleasant to hold during long paring sessions. The handles in this set are lightly stained, protecting the timber while keeping its natural feel in the hand.
